Nuclear Legacies Beyond National Borders

Come learn about the research and activism of nuclear justice advocates and NGO's addressing nuclear issues in Hiroshima, Fukushima, New Mexico and the Marshall Islands. Following presentations, join us for a discussion of local anti nuclear activism and how we can strengthen networks for nuclear justice.

Featured speakers:

Dr. Tetsuji Imanaka is a nuclear engineering scientist. As a second generation hibakusha of Hiroshima-bombing, he has a mind of an independent civil scientist. He has conducted radiological surveys mainly in Chernobyl, Hiroshima and Fukushima. 

Ms. Tomoyo, Tamayama is a researcher, activist and organic farmer. She has been engaged with the nuclear legacies of New Mexico especially regarding uranium mining and nuclear waste from the point of view of indigenous people.

Ms. Kuniko Watanabe is staff from ANT-Hiroshima, a non-governmental organization based in Hiroshima. Her grandmother is a Hibakusha of atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Her NGO has started a new project cooperative with REACHI-MI. She plans to visit to the Republic of the Marshall Islands on March 1, 2020 to connect with other nuclear affected communities.

Mr. Toshiya Morita is a freelance journalist. He has been continuously covering nuclear disaster of Fukushima. His father is a survivor of the bombing of Hiroshima and he engages in the activities organized by the second and the third generation of Hibakusha.

Seiichiro Takemine is a researcher on nuclear issues in the Marshall Islands
