No More Bombs Meeting with Presentation by Leonard Eiger of Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action

  • Anacortes Library 1220 10th St Annacortes, WA, 98221 United States (map)

Join No More Bombs at the Anacortes Library meeting room at 7 PM on February 4, 2020 for a meeting.

The guest speaker will be Leonard Eiger of Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action. His presentation will be ABOLISHING NUCLEAR WEAPONS: RESISTANCE IS NOT FUTILE! Leonard coordinates Ground Zero’s media and outreach efforts and will talk about Ground Zero’s work in a rapidly changing and violent world. From leafleting, vigils, and training, to blocking trains bringing nuclear warheads to Bangor, Ground Zero has remained true to its nonviolent roots for over four decades and works toward a nuclear weapons-free world.

Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action is right next to the Trident base in Bangor WA, where half of the US nuclear armed Pacific submarine fleet is homeported. Ground Zero shares a border fence with the Trident Nuclear Submarine Naval Base on the Kitsap Peninsula at Bangor. The number of nuclear weapons deployed at Bangor make it the largest operational concentration of nuclear weapons in the US arsenal. Washington state is the sixth largest recipient of Department of Defense funds.
